Windows Restoration Project was a success!
Before After
~ The Situation ~
When we started this project in late May there was only one intact window at the Boathouse. (See below, left.)
And one window was gone completely, not a stick of original wood, so it had to be built from scratch. (Middle)
Of the nine windows needing restoration work, only one had undamaged glass panes. Somehow this particular window (below, right) had held onto two of four panes throughout the years.

We started by labeling and photo-documenting the state of each window.
The goal was to restore the windows true to the building's original look and character, dating back to the WWII era. The goal was met with the help of hard-working volunteers, and through federal grant monies coming to us via the state DNR office, and the City of Sitka's Historic Preservation Commission.
The windows are now all fixed and installed and beautiful to behold!
