Full Construction Documents by NorthWind Architects

In 2010 the SMHS had complete design documents completed by NorthWind Architects of Juneau for a historic rehabilitation of the Japonski Island Boathouse.
This plan was funded by the federal National Scenic Byways program - the Alaska Marine Highway is a National Scenic Byway.
The plan is to federal Historic Preservation standards, the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, under the Standards for Rehabilitation. These plans were approved by Alaska's State Historic Preservation Office.

Request for Proposals for Addition Shell and Leading Rebuilding Historic Wall

The Sitka Maritime Heritage Society is inviting bids for the following project:

Providing all materials, equipment and labor for the shell of a 30’x10’ one-story addition, to be built on an existing concrete foundation against the north side of the boathouse. This project is to build the floor deck, exterior walls and roof. When completed, the building will house a restroom and office space for the boathouse. The construction can begin immediately, and must be completed by July 2019. The project is described in the “Japonski Island Boathouse Phase 1 Renovation and Adaptive Re-use” bid documents, and the “Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation”.
